Many in New York City when I was a flight attendant, I have had my pocketbook, flightbag and suitcase on a bus and had to stand the entire time in high heels, hanging onto a pole while every single able bodied man remained seated and refused to make eye contact with me nor offer his seat. I think you have anecdotal evidence of some incivility of some folks in New York. I have over 50 years of such anecdotal evidence and I have seen the good as well as the bad, and find most generalizations are wrong.
