Read Barry Fell’s books. I’m not claiming they’re right just claiming they’re interesting. - America B.C. is one.
I once had a linguistics class in Mexico, we studied some Nahuatl (Aztec language), for final class someone brought Pulque, an Aztec style beer I think from the same plants as provide juice for Mescal and Tequila. We got pleasantly sloshed and emoted in our new Nahuatl vocabulary. English has prefixes and suffixes, but Nahuatl also has infixes.
Nicneki nicua Tlaxcali. Nicneki nitlaxcalcua. Both mean “I want to eat tortillas.” In this case Tlaxcali is also the name of the neighboring tribe that allied with the Spaniards to conquer the Aztec capital. The Tlaxcalans did not like being eaten by Aztecs after they lost their battles and were sacrificed to the Gods by the Aztec priests and eaten by the people.
