Here’s the shorthand. 1kwh of electricity is 3400 BTU. 1 hundred cubic feet of natural gas is about 100,000 BTU, or equivalent to 30 KWH of electricity, and also about .8 gallons of gasoline (118k BTU/gallon). Wholesale natural gas is about 40 cents per 100,000 BTU (Henry Hub $4 per 1mm BTU or 1000 cubic feet more or less).

The delivered price of gas (including taxes, delivery, various flimflam surcharges of course) is less than triple the Henry Hub price, in most states or $1.20 per 100,000 BTU.

So you get the equivalent of 30KWH of electricity for $1.20 or probably less. $1.20/30 is 4 freaking cents per KWH. The average US residential electricity rate is 18 cents per KWH which is 450 percent higher than natural gas.
