Heat pumps have outdoor temp problems and are expensive. Much more than a simple gas furnace. Then there is hot water.

We’ve had winter power outages. A very small generator can keep a large home warm with gas heat.

“Heat pumps have outdoor temp problems “

Cold Weather Performance

Standard Models: May rely on backup heat (like electric strips or a furnace) below 25-30°F.

Cold-Climate Models (e.g., ENERGY STAR): Must work effectively at 5°F and maintain significant capacity (e.g., 70%+) at 5°F to qualify.

Hyper-Heating (H2i): Can provide 100% heating capacity down to 5°F, with guaranteed operation to -13°F or even -5°F (H2i Plus).

“and are expensive. Much more than a simple gas furnace.”

If you have no need for A/C cooling.
