No. To say they conquered Germany but let Hitler slip away would make Stalin look silly. Stalin was riding on the high of defeating Germany and would not endanger that position in any way.
The Soviets pushed hard for Hitler committing suicide, and claimed to have his remains.
It was in everyone’s best interest in 1945 that Hitler was dead, and not a loose end for Nazi loyalists to rally around.
I’m with another poster. I discounted the theory of Hitlers escape. Now I’m not so sure.
