YouTube is now the biggest online platform, larger than Netflix. I’m not sure that going off broadcast tv is a big deal. I haven’t watched linear tv in many years. I would guess that many young people never have. They watch on their phones, tablets and laptops.
Narrowcasting has been part of the mission. Network is broadcast because it scopes for the widest audience.
But the use of obscene language and inappropriate behaviour in the first year of a post-Trump Administration Oscars shows how they will push the envelope to advance adult material now that they can show it.
True what you say, re: linear TV.
Some films are still worth watching on the big screen in a theater though!
