The ski guys in Mescalero are the tribe rejects. The tribe has a 100% employment policy for members so they stick the losers there. I’m sure it’s the same in AZ.

To detail the story further, my wife (now of 31 years) announced we were getting married when we were 3. (We grew up next to each other.)

Her parents weren’t all that excited because my family (consisting of a rancher/doctor and a literal Catholic elementary school teacher, not exactly disreputable) was deeply involved with Jessie James, the Cowdens, et al and still had a bit of an outlaw reputation, never mind we were long time ranchers in the area and perfectly respectable for 100 years.

Took a slew of grandkids graduating college and beyond (doctor, lawyer, engineer, multiple military) before they decided it was a good match.

LOL...love your stories. Took a while for her folks to come around to “his family is ok...we guess.”
