I know a woman who had a similar experience. Christian, not muslim. Threatened with death (hers and her baby’s). She was told she could stay in a shelter for abuse victims, for one month. After that the waiting list for something more permanent was one year.
It’s not uncommon for an abuser to isolate a victim, from her family and friends. Eventually the victim has no one willing to help, except the government.
When time’s up, return to the abuser and accept additional “punishment” and monitoring.
The problem is not just in Europe.
