Weren’t schools, roads, and colleges paid for by property taxes?
If not, then that’s a good reason to get rid of school tax, city tax, and college tax.
The railroads, subways, Army and Navy were funded by....
TARIFFS.
Exactly what PDJT is doing; he wants to go back to the way the government should be funded, how they did it before 1913.
Railroads - Stock offerings, (private investment), and land grants (my Nevada property is one of those) were a huge part of this.
Of course, a lot of the development was the “olden days” version of capitalizing a huge buildout with public investment and subsequently “failing” with the assets being bought for pennies on the dollar so the assets would have a big ROI for the holders. Fiber Optic was big via this, and the big investment houses have vacuumed up a phenomenal amount of single family housing operating at the edge of the law during the real estate washouts... (no wet ink signature transfer trail in majority of instances).
