Israel doesn't have the right kind of charter?
Netanyahu is on trial for bribery, charges of fraud and breach of trust, in three separate cases.
He is the only sitting prime minister in Israeli history to face a criminal trial and has requested a pardon from the president, citing national unity, while maintaining his innocence.
Charges: The charges include bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.
Allegations that he exchanged favors with wealthy political supporters.
One case involves alleged exchanges of regulatory favors for positive media coverage.
Another involves receiving gifts like champagne and cigars from businessmen in exchange for advancing their interests.
Denial: Netanyahu has consistently denied the allegations, calling them a “witch hunt”.
He has been on trial for five years, and the verdict is not expected until 2026 at the earliest.
He has formally requested a pardon from President Isaac Herzog, arguing that the trial is a divisive issue and that it is in the public interest to end it.
The president confirmed it received the request and will “consider it with great care and responsibility”.
“Israel doesn’t have the right kind of charter?”
It all gets back to how much and many are in agreement with you. Look at what the US has done to Trump. They don’t like him so they treat him differently. An example is the search and decision that they found sensitive information in his home as a sitting president which houses a scif but Biden had the same type of documents loose and in plain sight in his garage before and after he was president. Trump they went after but said Biden was too demented to prosecute for OPSEC and COMSEC violations even though he violated them as VP and POTUS.
Whose to say this same group of loose cannon congress people wouldn’t arrest and jail a foreign body like Netanyahu when he visited the US for war crimes that have nothing to do with the US but just because he’s not who they like? If he’s pardoned by the president, they can’t touch him. End of problem.
