I was a Cub Scout in Richmond, VA. We moved to a farm when I was 10, and I was out of Scouting until we moved to Lakeland, Fl in 1953. My Cub Scout experience was a positive one.
I became a Boy Scout in Lakeland, and was quite active during the first year we were there. I quit the Boy Scouts in 1955 when the Scoutmaster began trying to homosexualize (grooming?) me and several of the other boys. I was naive, and didn’t understand what he was about, but I KNEW I didn’t want any part of it!
I never told anyone why I quit, and despite there being a well-run Boy Scout program in my High School, I never affiliated.
I don’t much care for homosexuals!
That’s terrible! I am so sorry that happened to you. My mother was our Girl Scout leader, which was a blessing. Seems that stuff didn’t happen with girls that I ever heard of.
