On the inhabited islands the locals would kick them off, leaving the uninhabited ones where the mosquitoes, black flies, and no-seeums would suck their blood 24/7, assuming the ever-hungry black bears did not eat them first. Those that managed to survive would quickly discover that fresh water is very scarce and food even scarcer.
