"there are folks on FR that blame boomers for everything."

They are on other sites too...also people who blame Jews for everything too. They are a bunch of losers.

"In twenty years, the baby boomers will be between 80 and 100,"

I was born in 1947. I'm 78 now. I won't be living to 98 that's for sure. I was the baby. I've already outlived everyone else in my family.

It is PROGRESSIVE boomers. They were raised in the shadow of FDR’s commie take over of every aspect of government. That’s when government jobs became lifelong endless careers and Gramski’s “march through the institutions” got its foothold in everything, media, education, college, etc, which saturated them. The worst is the takeover of public education.

Hat tip to you US-Conservative!

Excellent post and I think this Boomer-hate is ridiculous and probably fabricated.

There are so many losers who want to blame others for their lot in life.

We are all the sum of our decisions.

People need to look in the mirror and accept responsibility.
The attitude of this thread title is beyond mental disorder.

I’d like to know when these boomer haters got their first new car, and who paid for it. We didn’t have a car when I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s. I didn’t learn how to drive until I was married with two sons. Got divorced in 1979. Drove used cars until I found a career. In 1980 I was driving a Duster with three on the column that I paid a co-worker $1,000 for. Next car was a used Subaru. That was the first car loan I had for $10,000. Bought it from the mechanic who had been servicing my Duster. I bought my first brand new car around 1985...a VW Golf. I was 38 at the time. I’m 78 now and lease my vehicles these days, so when I die, all my kids have to do is take it back to the Nissan dealer. I have no estate, no savings, no investments, and I own nothing, so Nissan won’t even be able to get any money because my sons won’t be probating a Will.

Millenials need the cure that only a good hard spanking can give them.

"We had family dinner yesterday at our house, and the three girls, ages 15, ~12, and ~10, didn’t lift a finger to help with cleanup or anything. And they weren’t expected to."

There were three of us girls and one boy in our family. When we were all still living at home in the 50's and 60's, us three girls had to do the dishes every night and on the weekends. My brother was never made to wash a dish, but he did have a paper route that he got up early for 7 days a week. On the weekends, and especially during the winter, my father went with him. We didn't have a car so they walked the route. When the weather was nice they used a cart. When there was snow on the ground, they used a sled.

My only brother was in Cu Chi, Vietnam in 1966-67...U.S. Army, Company C, 4th Battalion (Mechanized), 23rd Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. Passed from a heart attack at the young age of 51.

I’ve been aware of this resentment for awhile. I intend to fight to keep what is mine.

Those people are posting comments that have nothing to do with the man in the picture. Nobody in the boomer generation has any animosity toward them.

Did anything in post 129 surprise you about what you think you know about the boomer generation?

The absolute worst candidate in the history of ever, and she still almost won.

We are so screwed.

The voting numbers for voters with a college degree is simply disgusting.

They’ll vote for an orangutan as long it’s a democrat.

“But what they are guilty of, beginning with Bill Clinton, is starting quantitative easing as a way of life.”

I do not recall being asked about that, and I damn sure did not vote for a draftdodger.

Boomers aren’t to blame and Boomers shouldn’t be blaming other demographics for our national ills either.

It’s a counterproductive blame game that leads nowhere productive.

However, blaming others will always be attractive to some people no matter the age group. Much more attractive than looking in the mirror.

Sounds like frequent target practice is wise use of time.

My path to a degree in engineering and good paying job did help destroy my marriage. There is also that little pause in life of 4 years in the service.

Not being able to start college until I was in my mid-twenties and working full time. College at night took extra years to finish, but I did.

I doubt very much you can find an millennial or zoomer that is getting a worthwhile degree that way.

I understand, I know there are Boomers with hearts of gold. But it was a generational shift. You can see it in the stock market. It’s wealth that was taken (stolen) which can’t be given back.

People displaced from urban cores by rampant criminality will have no compunction at all against invading the homes of empty-nest Baby Boomers

…and get shot.

Joe Biden is not a "boomer" but my point remains the same.

It occurred to me the other day that I am pretty close to being a millionaire on paper. Color me surprised.

My company and home together get me 3/4 of the way there. The rest is IRAs and investment accounts.

Because I can’t get much of a house on the proceeds of the sale of my current house, I will likely stay in it until I die, so that’s tied up. Selling my business would be painful, so that’s tied up as well. That leaves me with about $200K liquid, not really a comfortable retirement.

Yeah, us Boomers are rolling in it.
