Wow . Reminds me of the big volcano that wiped out Clark AF Base in the Philippines on the early 90s. I had washed by old (then newish) Aerostar the day before and was angry it was covered by a layer of ash , I live in INDIANA!!! š±
The next 2 winters by the way were very severe. I recall the lowest temp I ever saw in Indiana at negative 30ā¦but Iām fairly sure it was inaccurate on the Bankās temp display. BUT I know it was shockingly cold as I had cultivated a grove of Mamosa trees next to my house and it wiped them out, killed everyone of them dead.
Not sure if this one had enough sulfur compounds to change the Earthās albedo though.
Never mind. This one in Ethiopia is a piss ant compared to Pinatubo in the P.I.
Ethiopia today
ā SOā Released
~43,670 tonnes (43.67 kilotonnes), spread over ~42,000 km²
Pinatubo
~20 million tonnes (20,000 kilotonnes)
Ćuring my life in Indiana I have seen minus 25 F four times.Thankfully that did not persist?warming up to a more normal minus 10F .
Most comm o nly the worst cold is around 0F.
