Just queried the depth of that strait. It would have to be a bridge capable of spanning about a mile with its end towers set in 300’ deep waters... capable of holding a load of wet ash in an earthquake? Man, that’s a tough design problem!
I think I’d go for a sacrificial center span to be replaced.
The strait is a busy transit point, so the road would have to be well above, or go under the whole works. Either way, the seafloor would need to be thoroughly surveyed for ancient wrecks, well, and more recent ones, before any construction.
