“after the announcement that the president had died came over the intercom the school sent us all home”
We got the intercom announcement while I was in high school study hall, but we weren’t sent home. JFK and his ilk weren’t popular in our little town.
“Everyone just sat at home and watched the TV all day.”
We were at our family homestead for Thanksgiving. Grandpa had a running commentary about them “dragging the body all over creation”, and had all of us cousins in stitches.
Well, nobody in my family voted for JFK. We’re all Republicans from N Florida. But it was a shocking event and I never advocate for the assassination of a duly elected president. I was sorry he was murdered.
