Another little known fact: the ‘Kafirastani Beauty’ that Sean Connery lusted for (that led to their downfall in their adventure) is Michael Caine’s real life wife, Shakira. And she was cast sort of by accident:
Connery, the Caines and John Huston were at dinner, when Huston suddenly realized that they hadn’t cast the part of “Roxanne” yet with filming about to start... And pretty much hired Shakira on the spot.
At least that’s the story...
