Sharon was nothing but gracious. And I don't think Jack meant his comment in a derogatory manner. He was pointing out that no matter what people think of the man, he took the time to leave his mother a voicemail.

I know who it was and I know what she said

They could have left out the word hate. The mother invited him into the conversation. If I’d have been her I’d have said stop talking about hatred leave now. Disinvited

And he’d have gotten mad at me and maybe caused a scene

Then I’d have made it clear to him he’s disinvited from future events. Until he can act properly and be expected to

I in no way expect people to agree with me or not I don’t care

When You give someone thanks in public you do not mention that people hate him. If you can’t manage that stay home
