The lack of cents is already being felt.

I purchased articles which came to a total of about $7.99. The last two digits were definitely $.99. It was rounded down and I was charged $7.95 and given a nickle as change for my cash payment.

This occurred at Fry’s grocery store in Yuma, AZ.

I predict stores will round down and not up, because rounding up could be considered fraud, while rounding down is just another discount.

Time to do away with all coins, except dollars

Probably. When I used paper money, I'd fill up a coffee can with coins. It might take me a year and then I'd cash them all in at the bank. Usually around $100 for a 1 lb coffee can full of coins.

These days I use paper money so rarely, it takes forever for my coin can to accumulate enough to make it worth my while. It's been years since I've cashed it in and it's barely filled.

I imagine I'll live long enough to see the end of not only coins but paper money as well.

Thanks. We were not aware the pickle was also not worth its face value, with costs much greater than its worth.

Beach says...”This will save the taxpayers $56 million” Depends on how you interpret that. The minting process just got cheaper, but now everything will likely be priced to the nearest nickel, so the taxpayer pays more on that end. Actual saving for the taxper?....We will see, but probably nothing. I am assuming the pennies will still be used awhile yet.

Inflation due to Trump in how much one’s thoughts cost! No longer is it “A penny for your thoughts,” now it is “A nickle for your thoughts.” (all said with sarcasm turned on.)

We lose far more on the nickel than the penny.

It costs 14 cents per nickel.

Since most people pay by debit or electronic, it will stay the same.

I rarely see/use a nickel...when you roll them....that's when it shows up.

Its' pretty much quarters, dimes and pennies.

British pennies in 1965 were as big as a quarter.

I see dimes far less than nickels around here.

I’ve joined my kids’ millennial and Gen-Z habit of rarely, if ever, carrying cash.
