Thanks to Joni Mitchell, a lot of people discovered Mingus who otherwise wouldn’t have.
During the 70’s I got into jazz after hearing Dave Brubeck. Then Mingus, Jones, Miles, Coltrane, Montgomery, Cannonball, Maynard Ferguson, etc., so many greats. Probably my favorite jazz album is John Mclaughlin’s “Extrapolation”. John Surmon on sax is incredible.
