Israel ahs been under attack by it's neighbors since it was founded in 1948. Israel was first attacked by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Israel has successfully defended itself form those attacks. Israel now has peace with, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. More recently Israel was the victim of rockets launched at its civilian populations from Syrian and Lebanon and Gaza by Iranian terrorist proxies. Israel with minimal help from us has neutered all three of those threats. Israel has on multiple occasions returned land to its neighbors that it won in wars started by its neighbors!
With regards to our $38T debt about 1% could be attributed to aid given to Israel. The vast majority of our debt is due to $1T/year in welfare since the Johnson Administration.
Further a case can be made that we have benefited greatly from the aid we have given to Israel, most recently with the destruction of Iran's nuclear weapons capabilities that Iran was developing with the goal of using those weapons on us. Israel first neutered Iran's air defenses allowing our bombers to enter Iranian airspace unmolested.

Oh please only an idiot thinks Iran poses a nuclear threat to the US. Israel has betrayed us numerous times over the years giving military and technological secrets to both China and Russia. If they can afford free healthcare and college for their people they can afford to pay for their own military too.
