You’re dealing with first graders around here. Fifth graders understand the basics of supply and demand. Some of the folks around here love government intervention.

Yuppies discovered bbq. TV cooking shows have showed more and more bbq. Lots of cuts have jumped that were traditionally cheaper in the past.

“ Take away foreign ownership as well”

A Chinese company owns the largest meatpacking company in the USA. There only six major meat packing companies. I wonder if they own any more of those six.

Not only meatpacking companies are driving up beef prices from the day Trump took office price gouging was taking place and it’s getting amped up the better he makes things.

The Bolshevik democrats have a sweetheart deal by ignoring the facts.

> When feeder steers are over $350 a hundred weight the problem is not the packers.<

The drought forced many ranchers to send their feeder stock to feed lots. That isn’t cheap, but the alternative is to lose the herd.

It’s more than one thing causing the increase.

But if you ask the Capitalist Business Cult around here anything goes in Business, Collusion, Fraud, Misrepresentation, Extortion, Price Fixing, Gouging... Anything and everything goes if it makes a buck. They are too dense to understand that what these Corporations are practicing is ILLEGAL and it is NOT “Capitalism”, it is CORPORATISM... It is not Rocket Science. Corporatism is a whole different critter altogether.

corporatism: the organization of a society into industrial and professional corporations serving as organs of political representation and exercising control over persons and activities within their jurisdiction

“Long overdue.”

Yes. This investigation could have been launched long before this week’s election. Probably wouldn’t change the end result but it would have demonstrated to some voters a more proactive approach to exposing the high costs of meats.

The linked article includes the following about Cargill. They have power over some of the most unhealthy foods in the USA.

……
“Cargill Inc., the largest privately-held corporation in the United States. Cargill runs the biggest flour-milling company in the world, is a leading corn syrup and soybean processor,”

“The drought forced many ranchers to send their feeder stock to feed lots. “

It forced them to send their heifers to the feed lots. And their brood cows to McDonalds.

To restore the herd they have to withhold and feed the heifers for a couple of seasons. Maybe 3.

That’s damn expensive. And the price of beef will reflect that.

UNLESS the country decides to destroy the domestic industry and import beef.

Patriots will eat more chicken, pork and beans.

Anti American cry babies will demand cheap beef no matter the source, because they don’t care about the health of the country.

“Anti American cry babies will demand cheap beef no matter the source, because they don’t care about the health of the country.”

That is probably one of the most contradictory psyop propaganda statements I have ever heard... Let me fix that to reflect what you REALLY mean.

“because they don’t care about the health of the MEGACORPORATIONS.”

This has been a hot button issue since the 1960’s. I remember well hearing the conversations about it on the farm.
Not much has happened.
We need a bunch of anti trust actions .
Companies in many industries are too big

“because they don’t care about the health of the MEGACORPORATIONS.”

That’s just ignorant. Your emotions do not allow you to see the truth of the matter.

It’s the big corporations that want to import beef. It keeps the packers busy with “affordable” beef for the ignorant masses.

Once it was oil, washing machines, lumber, computers etc. Everything folks who put America first have been raging about for decades, the dumb assess have demanded be sourced from other countries.

Now the ignorant dumbasses are going to kill the beef industry...and the packers will increase their margins on imported beef.
