Last I heard, death toll is 9, with 15 injured and 16 unaccounted for. Spent a few hrs last night waiting for word on high school classmates that work there (everyone is ok, just shaken up. One had just left work when it happened, another one who works nights got the call not to come into work before she left the house) and getting multiple notifications on my phone about the shelter in place as we live about a half hr drive south of Louisville, our hometown. Jefferson County Public Schools are closed today, as well as University of Louisville.

In short, it's a f**king mess here, could use all the prayers we can get.

I didn’t hear that it was a “declared” near-miss perhaps because we were in tightly controlled space during takeoff but it was visually enough to make me suck wind. I was on an Embraer ERJ 140n(if memory serves ) (a commuter sized jet) lifting out on takeoff and the other plane was crossing but coming into a descent glide path.

I am not a pilot but I have probably been on close to two thousand flights in sixty years of air travel and it was enough to stick in my memory.
