Remember, these elections were in heavily democrat areas Not really. There were several elections in solid red areas where Republicans underperformed. One was my state senate district. Leading R - 36%. Leading Dem - 48%. Heading for a runoff, but the Dems are obviously motivated when Republicans are not.
