"“...was to fly to Honolulu.”

I was wondering why there was so much fuel.

================================

🚨 BREAKING: UPS Flight 2976 bound for Honolulu, Hawaii had 280,000 gallons of jet fuel on board when it crashed in Louisville, per WLKY

MULTIPLE explosions have rocked the area, and smoke can be seen for dozens of miles. pic.twitter.com/ilIfnKIZuP— Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) November 4, 2025

Correction...

CLARIFICATION: The UPS MD-11 was carrying 280,000lbs of fuel — not gallons.

The Mayor of Louisville misspoke.

But 280K lbs of fuel is near full capacity for an MD-11, as the plane was en route to Hawaii.— Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) November 5, 2025

I would buy 280,000 lbs. 280,000 gallons would be about 1.8 million lbs. There is no way that plane carried that much fuel.
