Given the recent NBA scandals, you have to wonder how honest any of the Big 4 sports are or for that matter college football and basketball. You can go back to the Black Sox World Series fix of over a century ago to see that gambling corrupted baseball. I don't doubt that the money corrupts athletes, coaches, and referees, especially the last group, as their salaries are minuscule compared with those received by players and coaches.

I read most US betting was on the Dodgers. Something like 80% of the money. The reverse happened in Canada. The US sports books lost on the result. Not a lot since the odds were heavily in favour of the Dodgers but some. They were certainly wanting a Jays win.
