Here’s another point - the go fast boats coming out of Venezuela have only 24km to reach the Island of Aruba [ a Netherlands protectorate ], and then on to the rest of the island chain up to Puerto Rico where the drugs are easily moved into the US.

The drug boats usually have other boats that act as look outs, decoys and refuelers. CGs just do not have the manpower and resources to interdict all of the go fast drug runners.
