It wasn't a baseball pitcher.
It was one of the engineers.
And they dud deliver the Cybertruck after that to very good reviews.

“Tesla’s chief designer Franz von Holzhausen lobed a hefty metal ball at the window — and smashed it. “Oh my f*****g God,” Musk muttered, in apparent chagrin.”

“Maybe that was a little hard,” Von Holzhausen said.

The ball didn’t go through the window. Later:

“Chief designer Franz von Holzhausen, who infamously shattered one of the truck’s windows at the time by lobbing a metal ball at it, took the stage today to give it another shot.

Except that it wasn’t exactly a fair comparison. Von Holzhausen halfheartedly lobbed a baseball — rather than a heavy metal ball, like last time — at the Cybertruck’s window during today’s event. The ball harmlessly bounced off the truck, proving nothing.”

I cite these facts not as a retort, but to exemplify that this was yet another ad nauseam example that supposedly very smart people can be quite dumb.

That stated, I am quite dubious about the AI hype, but I’m certain that Musk has a plan for his AI and that the odds are that he’ll demonstrate a higher level of genuine commercial success than the others.
