Die-a-beat-us.
I try to live my economic life by two maxims. One, “”The house a always wins.” Why do businesses always do promos and have apps? Because it gets you in the door and people are dumb enough to install their advertising on their personal services. The second maxim is, “Ad-copy should be ignored.” People trying to sell you stuff are salesmen, and salesmen will say whatever they have to in order to separate you from your money.
I turned sales on its head years ago as a salesman with a technique I called "The No Sales Sale." What I did wasn't really selling (although that's what it was) and I never had to worry about sales since I had customers who basically begged to buy stuff from me. In fact, I never worried about selling and my main concern was supply.
The funny thing is that even though I haven't done all that in years, I still get phone calls from people who still want to buy more stuff from me. I once demonstrated to my wife how I did it by driving with her to an industrial park. I honked my horn, parked my car, got out and just yelled "YO!". Right away my customers showed up and I opened up my trunk and back seat as the customers swarmed around and pulled out the product and handed me money as I bagged it up for them. The whole time I said not a word (although I usually was quite talkative) because I wanted to prove a point to my wife.
Oh, and the product was not some sort of illegal drug. A perfectly legal product. (In this case it was body wash but it could have been a whole host of products that I used to sell).
A few years earlier I traveled around the country selling sunglasses using similar methods to tailgaters at car races or other sporting events. I often achieved sales rates of over 100 pairs per hour sold. One time I couldn't sell even a single pair in an hour. Why? Because my ATTITUDE was shot due to having a bad night's sleep the night before. The quick solution was me making a beeline to a nearby liquor store and buying three of those small minibottles of whiskey which I downed one after another. My attitude immediately changed for the better and was back to my sales rate of over a hundred pairs per hour. The way I achieved that rate is a whole other story.
