Official Status of U.S. Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom

As of November 27, 2025, evening (approximately 6:57 p.m. ET), Beckstrom has succumbed to her injuries and passed away, per official confirmation from President Donald Trump during a Thanksgiving address.

Trump described her as a "highly respected, young, magnificent person" who "started service in June of 2023" and was "outstanding in every way." West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey, who visited Beckstrom and Wolfe in the hospital on November 26 night, confirmed her death in a statement shortly after, expressing grief and calling for prayers.

The West Virginia National Guard has not yet issued a formal EOW (End of Watch) release but acknowledged the victims' identities and service earlier in the day via DVIDS.

Staff Sgt. Wolfe remains in critical but stable condition at a separate D.C. hospital; his prognosis is guarded but no further updates on his status were available at time of reporting.

U.S. Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, age 20, from Summersville, West Virginia, was a serving member of the West Virginia Army National Guard, assigned to the 863rd Military Police Company, 111th Engineer Brigade. She entered active service on June 26, 2023, and had been on federal orders in Washington, D.C., since August 2025 as part of the "D.C. Safe and Beautiful Mission"—a high-visibility patrol operation involving National Guard troops from multiple states to support federal law enforcement amid heightened security concerns in the capital.

Fox News just now posted it also. Damn, this type of thing just tears a person apart! So young. So full of life. She loved her country, and her Guard personnel.
