And let’s hope the House reads the Senate version and cuts out some obvious swamp details like:
Republican Senators Include Provision in Shutdown Bill That DOJ Cannot Subpoena Senators Phone Records β You/Me, No Such Protection
Excerpt:
Republican senators have slipped a provision into the Continuing Resolution bill to re-open government, that forbids the DOJ or Judicial branch from subpoenas targeting their phone records. The Senate will be protected from abuses to the 4th amendment, but you and me β no such luck.
Additionally, as further evidence to the structural priorities of the professional Republicans, if the legislative provision is violated, each instance of violation will result in a $500,000 payment to the senator. Go figure.
......Donβt forget, in the last FISA-702 reauthorization, Congress also forbade any member of the legislative branch from being subject to the illegal use of the NSA surveillance system.
Congress is exempt from the FISA abuse they authorize on Americans, and Congress is exempt from subpoenas against their phone records that are authorized against Americans.
Seriously folks, we just cannot make this stuff up.
The nation’s largest trucking company says it will no longer service New York City after Mamdani takes office:
“We’ve instructed our dispatchers to reject loads to any of the Five Burroughs,” said Company Spokesman Joe Barron, “We don’t see a way to continue doing business in the Big Apple..”
The news comes as Mamdani released his plan to increase revenue across the city by quadrupling the cost of tolls, licensing, permits, and inspections of all commercial vehicles.
“He’s going to put a lot of the independent truckers out of business.”

π To be fair, we haven't lost our 4th amendment rights, we just don't have the extra enforcement. It is also noteworthy that Senate carpetbaggers can assess penalties for personal gain due to such abuses - penalties paid by you and I, as taxpayers. D.C. is just out of control! (Curious to see if the House strips that provision from the bill...)
