The US Navy has been writing and refining our carrier operations doctrine for 80+ years. NATOPS (Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization) the Bible for Naval flight operations is written in blood shed by too many Navy flight personnel.
The Peoples Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) is only starting to develop this.
Then there is the matter of their escorts. Carriers do NOT sail and operate alone. The PLAN escorts are too small, too slow, and have too little endurance to operate with their carriers for very long or very far. The eleven US Navy nuclear carriers displace more than the entire PLAN. By displacement, the US Navy is about 2.8 times the size of the PLAN.
The replenishment capability (food, fuel, and munitions) in the PLAN is virtually non-existent. A US Navy Carrier Battle Group can stay at sea and fight for weeks if necessary and do it 4,000 miles from home.
In terms of combat capability, the PLAN would likely lose a Naval war with the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force. This is why I don't really care about the 'threat' from Chinese carriers.
