Bengaluru residents who litter the streets have received a warning. If you throw trash on the street, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will toss it back to your house.
The GBA's "Garbage Dumping Festival" is turning the tables, quite literally, by dumping garbage right back on the doorstep of people who dirty the city.
This initiative delivers a strong lesson in cleanliness.
A 'Return Gift'
Speaking with NDTV, Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited's (BSWML) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Karigowda said, "We have around 5,000 autos in Bengaluru that go to households for collection of dry and wet waste. Despite this, few people throw garbage on the roads."
According to Karigowda, the BSWML receives videos from people who throw garbage on the roads, and they have also installed CCTVs for surveillance.
To create awareness (of not throwing garbage on the roads), this (initiative) is a sort of a return gift," he said.

Here in the us of a the third worlders minded dump on their own environs, mac donald has all roads leading from it lined and decord with garbage. May the day come that this garbage dumping will be out of vogue.
Gas station gum.
The gum that slobs spit onto the ground while pumping gas. This is where you’re most likely to step in gum and get it on your car carpeting.
THERE’S A GARBAGE CAN WITHIN THREE FEET OF THE PUMPS!
...YET, the slobs just spit it on the ground.
How bad is it?
Next time you fuel the car, look down. Every one of those black circles is some lazy slob’s gum. The worse the neighborhood, the higher the desinty of slobgum.
The evidence is beneath your feet. Watch where you step.
A small glimpse into social decay right here in the US.
Annoys me.
... thank you for allowing me to vent.

My friend was in India for 2 weeks in September. He said it was generally filthy and disgusting everywhere on the streets. At the same time my daughter was in Seoul. She said it was immaculate. She had dozens of photos of street scenes in Seoul and in tourist areas. You can not spot so much as a gum wrapper on the ground in any of the photos.

I had driven to the passenger side of a stopped minivan and in my best Spanish (which consists of about 20 words), I told her not to throw “basura” on the “camino”.
(I think the message got through).

The ROK has come a long way from when I was there from 1989-1991. They still had open sewer ditches and plumbing that couldn't handle toilet paper. The streets were always dingy. There was not a lot of litter, but it just looked dingy. Housing in a lot of places looked cobbled together.
#AllCulturesAreEqual
Instilling neatness and cleanliness on a society can be done within a generation. Looks like India’s finally tackling the problem, one city at a time.
