Putin announces Russia tested Poseidon nuclear torpedo, which can destroy cities with radioactive tsunamis: ‘Huge success’

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his country’s military successfully tested a massive nuclear-torpedo dubbed the Poseidon capable of leveling coastal cities with 1,600-foot high radioactive tsunamis.

The despot, while enjoying tea with wounded Russian soldiers at a hospital in Moscow Wednesday, said the underwater bomb was launched from a submarine the day before and was a “huge success.”

“For the first time, we managed not only to launch it with a launch engine from a carrier submarine, but also to launch the nuclear power unit on which this device passed a certain amount of time,” Putin said.

“There is nothing like this.”

“This is a huge success,” Putin said, adding that the destructive power of the Poseidon surpasses the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, ominously known as the Satan II, which can carry 15 nuclear warheads.

“The Poseidon’s power significantly exceeds the power of even our most promising Sarmat intercontinental range missile,” Putin said.

He’s sending Wagner troops to Venezuela and it’s going to end badly for them.

“Not buying it. Waves hitting coastlines are too highly dependent upon the shape of the ocean bottom for an assertion like this to hold water”

You don’t understand how whole water column wavelength waves work. An earth’s quake moves crust up or down in a thrust type fault. This action pushes up the entire water column above it all at once this sets up a wave whose wavelength is proportional to the depth of the water. In deep water this sets up a tsunami wave. The Sumatra earthquake displaced 10 meters of depth it pushed a 130 meter tsunami up on shallow continental shelf coastlines it’s a factor of wavelength compression on hitting shallow water ANY shallow water.

A 100 megaton detonation on the seafloor would produce a 200-500 meter wide 100 million degree plasma ball instantly displacing and lifting the water column above it. This plasma bubble would rise and contract then expand each time losing temperature and pressure three more cycles or two depending on depth each expansion is pushing out secondary waves above it with decreasing amplitude and wavelengths.

^^^^^ this is how you get a 1600 foot high wave you displaced 200+ meters off the bottom and sent it towards the shallow east coastline it would swamp NYC, DC ,Boston couple hundred miles of coastline gone. It’s a second strike counter value weapon and a pretty good one at that. Set one off in the Gulf of America and you lose Houston, New Orleans too there goes your refinery complex and your largest River to to Ocean port system. On the West Coast LA, San Fran and San Diego are also gone. Three weapons is all you need in deep water. Elegant and psychotic at the same time. It’s meant to literally be a doomsday weapon and they have Deadhand the automatic doomsday launch commit system still active to this day. Why you crazy boomers keep Fing with Russia with some weird coldwar boner is just silly.

“warhead powerful enough to do this would be too big to be a torpedo”

No it would be about 1.5 meters in diameter and 15
Meters long plenty small enough fit into a large UUV like this one. The 100MT warhead the Soviet Union already detonated not a full yield was 1.5-1.8 metres wide. You can make a triple stage weapon hit 100+ MT with enriched U235 in the second and third stage tampers.

Simple truth is the Russian inherited Soviet technology and they had the bomb tech for this in the 1980s.

Yes only someone facing their own destruction would use such a weapon which from a geophysics point would absolutely work.

Ask a Russian this question any one of them anywhere.

Would you live in a world where Russia does not exist having been destroyed physically or economically as a nation or would you rather take the world down with you. Ask one.

Every single one will tell you they will burn the world down than let it exist without mother Russia. Every single one.

World war two was the great patriotic war they were going to fight to the last man woman and child.

Do not ever underestimate the resolve of the Russian people they will end this planet for sure if pushed to an existential crisis.

ROFLMAO. Female Russian Instagram addicts are every bit as vapid and self centered as the American version. The idea the’d rather burn down the world than continue with their existance is gut bustingly funny. You haven’t the faintest clue about the topic you are commenting on. Please do carry on if you wish, though.

“Unlikely.radioactive materials don’t just become in radioactive.”

Yes they do neutrons activate any materials they contact at thermal spectrum speeds. The bomb would be a three stage fission fusion gas boost trigger assembly, fission spark plug fusion secondary with a U235 weapons grade enriched secondary tamper , driving a larger fission spark plug fusion secondary with again a larger enriched fission tamper. Most of the yield is from the fast fusion neutrons from each secondary hitting the hyper dense compressed weapons grade tempers around them the efficiency of fission under those conditions is nearly 100% this is how you get 100 megatons from a 2 meter by 15 meter package it’s a giant fission driven implosion device with fusion neutron sources to boost the effective fission rates to nearly 100% of the fissile mass. The immediate consequences is all that fission has made metric tonne of fission products which now get dispersed among all the expanding debris this says nothing of the millions of trillions of high energy neutrons that left the bomb case and irradiated the seafloor, water and all the other bomb materials inside the fireball radius the number you are looking for...

100-megaton device with a 50% fission yield could produce an initial radioactivity of roughly 50 quadrillion terabecquerels one minute after detonation.

The human mind struggles with the units of how radiation such a weapon would put out. That’s at 50% fission to get to 100 in a triple stage weapon you are in the 90% range double that number then if they salted the outer layers of the tamper with cobalt the number doesn’t go up much but the Half-Life time of the produced activity goes from days to 5.3 years and the time needed to be anywhere those materials touch is 53 years for survivability and 100+ for safe living a literal doomsday weapon. Countries that face existential threats make such a weapon and rig it to their automated deadhand system at that.

How long have you ever lived in Russia? Real question?

ты говоришь по-русски? Я говорю по-русски.

Я полдесятилетия жил и работал в России в нефтяной отрасли. А вы?

Yeah thought so. Firstly female Russians are not in charge of sh1t, men run the show, men who are not weak like Western ones they don’t do Islam safe zones, they don’t do globalhome either, trans not on your life. It’s you who know know nothing but dried up boomer coldwar nonsense. Russia is the most conservative Western religious nation in Eurasia period. White people at that. Some of the hottest woman too , you break your neck in Moscow every other girl is a ten , blonde slim polite.

You don’t understand how whole water column wavelength waves work. An earth’s quake moves crust up or down in a thrust type fault. This action pushes up the entire water column above it all at once this sets up a wave whose wavelength is proportional to the depth of the water.

The rule of thumb on ocean wave behavior is that the "wave base" is seven times the depth of the amplitude. For a crest to trough distance of 1600ft would draw all the water for many miles. Not buying it; it just couldn't get there that fast. Most continental shelves are somewhere between 300-600ft of depth. There simply isn't enough water available to make a wave crest 1600ft tall with any breadth to produce the destructive outcome touted. So your example of tsunami behavior is pointless. (BTW, the literal translation from Japanese for "tsunami" is "tidal wave"; i.e., the new and better "scientific" term is no better than the old one; it should be called a "seismic wave").

Your use of a seismic wave as an example has its faults. A seismic displacement is longitudinal, moving a huge mass of the crustal bottom. An explosion from a nuke is a point source. The first would set up a regular translational wave while the latter distribution is radial, dissipating wave energy in all directions from that point.

600ft I would have bought. 1,600 no way. Maybe Vlad baby should give us a demo. He's got lots of unoccupied Arctic coastline for a test.

Why you crazy boomers keep Fing with Russia with some weird coldwar boner is just silly.

What does what I said have ANYTHING to do with my policy preferences toward Russia? You know nothing about my thinking on Vladimir Putin and the Ukraine war any more than you do about ocean wave behavior.

They can’t have really tested it only the components in a similated way....or else there would have been a tsunami with assiciated radiation somewhere on Earth.

Sounds like vaporware!
