Two men who allegedly stole $100 million worth of France’s crown jewels during a daring daytime heist at the Louvre Museum were arrested on Saturday night — as one suspect was captured trying to flee the country. One of the suspects, who has not been identified, was busted as he was boarding a flight bound for Algeria at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris newspaper Le Parisien reported. The men, from Seine-Saint-Denis, a suburb north of Paris, were detained by police as part of the investigation of “organized gang robbery” and “conspiracy to commit a crime.” Police were tipped off on Saturday about one of the suspects likely to be flying out of the country heading to Algeria in North Africa.

Sadly for them, they hired the wrong person for the wrong reason. A woman certainly can be competent as a museum director or the head of security, but they hired this director specifically to hire women, not competent people. The lack of security cameras in the area of the thieves’ path surely must’ve been known by the male museum directors and security heads, so they’re not off the hook. The right woman or man would’ve seen the lack and had it taken care of.

Agreed. Although I read that requests for security by the Louvre have been languishing in French bureaucracy for around five years.

My question is how exactly does one fence such a haul?

Or was the theft pre-arranged by a wealthy collector?

> it is truly amazing security of such historic and monetary value was so lacking <

Some reports say the Louvre’s security chief (Dominique Buffin) was an incompetent diversity hire. If so, that would explain a lot.

So stupid to flee to Algeria by airplane, through the French Airport closest to the crime scene.

Hint: Next time, drive across the border.
Drive across the next border.
Drive to a Mediterranean port, take a private boat back to Algeria.
Return to Africa on the hundreds of empty private boats shuttling new innocent and needy “immigrants and asylum seekers” into France.

I’ll be darned. I didn’t think they would catch the thieves. Two still haven’t been caught, but I guess it’s just a matter of time now.

There is a time to laugh and a time not to laugh, and this is not one of them.
He was caught with his meenkey grinding his organ without a loicense.

Would one have expected the authorities to have shot and killed them as they fled? What if they were later in a boat? I think so.

Once again, with this jewel heist, we are all reminded why the French can so easily be beaten in war and overwhelmed by scoundrels.

The French are so busy being ignorant and arrogant, they are never prepared for real trouble.

They love to look down their noses at others who steal French lunches while the French are so busy smirking and insulting others actually a lot smarter.

You can steal priceless jewels from the French in broad daylight.

You can’t fix stupid.

The French have been getting their butts kicked for centuries.

Yep.

There is a YT video on it, they had a big re-hiring and replaced all the top security with DEI hires recently.

100 million dollars of gold and gems and the admin were not smart enough to put in a few 50 dollars security cameras. But I bet they were careful to make sure all the staff respected chosen pro-nouns.

Hard to get anywhere fast when you got to drop and pray (to a false god) 5 times a day.

We have a winner!

Maybe Allah grants absolution if a Muslim rips off the infidels for a 100 million.

The men, from Seine-Saint-Denis, a suburb north of Paris,

That's the most notorious "no go" Muslim/African ghetto in Paris.
