Sometime around 2017, Trump floated the idea of dumping EBT cards and providing pre-boxed meals to welfare recipients instead.
They would get a box of ingredients and recipes. The food would be healthy, tasty, basic and easy to prepare. Want better? Get a job.
I wish we’d revisit that idea.
Imagine going to the store and picking up two boxes every week. One was non-perishables and fresh vegetables, while the other contained frozen and refrigerated food.
Sure they’d whine and complain, but so what?
People making money off of taxpayer funded ebt would not like that. After all, they market a lot of that non nutritional junk food to these very same people. The people glut themselves on it which benefits the Big Pharma and Big Medical. Grocery stores like it too. They roll out the crab legs and pies for the holidays. LOL
And we actually wonder why nothing changes.🙄
Whatever happened to calling food assistance “food stamps”? Why do they call it “earned benefit transfers”? The people getting it mostly do not “earn” any of it. This is why few of them even appreciate that they are eating because other people have to pay for them to eat. In fact, they become arrogant and act as though they did something to deserve it. The truth is the opposite.
They do not need a card. Go back to paper coupons at least.
