Three NBA stars, including Hall of Famer Chauncey Billups, have been charged in a pair of sweeping and “historic” federal gambling busts — one of which implicates four of the five Mafia families, and the other involves bets placed on LeBron James and four NBA teams.
The mob is accused of paying Billups and former NBA player Damon Jones, 49, to act as “face cards” to attract high rollers to big-money poker games that were fixed using sophisticated tech, including rigged card shufflers and special glasses and contact lenses, according to an indictment by the US attorney for the Eastern District of New York. The other probe involves an illegal sports gambling ring that placed bets on games using insider information on the Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, Charlotte Hornets and Portland Trail Blazers and their players.

Denny McLain got himself into big trouble more than once. Had he not, he’d be in the MLB Hall of Fame.
the issue with rose was he did bet on his own games, which might influence decisions on which pitchers to swap in etc that otherwise would have been made differently if no side money on the line.
also didn’t his bookie later say (or have notes saying) he bet against his own team?

I have DirecTV with Fanduel. There is so much visual information showing during MLB games that while I’m looking at it, it takes me away from the live action. Fortunately, I can get by with the sound off, but most of the graphics are there to encourage betting more than anything else. All I want to see is what tells me the inning, runs, hits and errors, current batting averages and season stats of players at bat and on deck, ball and strike counts, pitcher W-L records and ERA,...It’s so pervasive that I’ve come to the inevitable conclusion that any game I happen to be watching, whether it’s Fanduel or any other channel, is somehow rigged.
