I was just wondering how Florida went from a blue to state to red? How did the Republicans manage to sneak in reforms that caused the Democrats to lose the state?
Maybe people just realized demoRATS hate this Country, and/or their state, and started voting properly?
Other than that purging voter rolls, single day voting, and NO mail in, other than an absentee ballot are a good start to a fair election.
They terminated dubious Democrat workers at their various Board of Elections, ballot-counting completed in one day, and stringent chain of custody requirements for ballot handling.
Florida could do more. Still allows too many ballots at drop off sites. Way to0 many.

To get a REAL ID, you must provide documentation proving your identity, Social Security number, two proofs of principal residence, and lawful status in the U.S. You will also need documents proving any name changes, and you must apply in person at your local DMV or follow your state’s online application process.
What to bring
Proof of Identity: A passport, certified birth certificate, or permanent resident card are common options.
Proof of Social Security Number: A Social Security card, W-2, or a paystub with your full SSN. Note that some states, like California, Montana, and South Carolina, may not require this specific document, so check with your state’s DMV.
Two Proofs of Principal Residence: Utility bills, rental agreements, mortgage bills, or bank statements are common examples.
Proof of Name Change (if applicable): If your name has changed from what is on your identity document, you will need a marriage certificate, divorce decree, or other legal name change document.
Proof of Lawful Status: This is typically covered by your identity document, but if you are a foreign national, you may need to provide additional documents like an I-94 form.
I didn’t move there until 2000, so thank for clarifying.
Only if they have a US birth certificate or proof of legal naturalization plus proof of residency in the state and if you had a name change, you have to show your marriage license or court papers of legal name change. We had to go through this process and wait for verification before we got the real ID driver’s license. It would be very hard to get a real ID without these things. If there are places in Florida not going by this process... I personally have not heard about it.
DeSantis made sweeping changes when he got in. And his first election he barely won. He almost lost to that drug addled homo. But as soon as he got in he made major changes across the state and when his second election came, and other people’s elections came up they swept red. This tells me there was massive fraud going on in the state and he cleaned their clocks
Florida was never embarrassed during 2020. We kicked ass that year almost solely reporting our election outcome early compared to other states
Lots of conservatives moving to Florida!
Including me!!!! Leaving Washington State early December and will reside in Florida 6-8 months of year. Ormond Beach here I come.
As mentioned above, Desantis got rid of crooked election staff in two of the biggest counties
The first thing FL did is stop running Dem-Lite candidates for the GOP.
Florida Republicans flipped the Dem voter registration advantage; Florida now has over one million more R's than D's. This change occurred in about seven years.
The reasons are multiple. National democrats flat out overplayed their weak hand causing any “moderate” democrats to get out of their burning house.
Florida has also been swamped with Yankee refuges fleeing blue state war zones. This is always a concern because - well, because they are Yankees.
However, it appears Florida has received the best of the worst refugees. So far, they are largely registering and voting as Republicans.
Also, President Trump has won over many Hispanics and they are a significant force in the Gunshine state.
“””2018 seems to have been a huge turning point.”””
Yes it was. in 2018 Rick Scott beat Bill Nelson in Nelson’s long held senate seat.
And as you mentioned DiSantis beat druggie Gillum.
I would attribute TRUMP and MAGA as the major reason for those wins in 2018. And Rick Scott’s cleanup of FL election rules between 2010 and 2018 as the third reason.
“”””:Florida was never embarrassed during 2020. We kicked ass that year almost solely reporting our election outcome early compared to other states””””
oops-—that was a typo -— should be 2000.
Thanks for catching it.
No worries and yes, 2000 was a joke
In MD, the long voting lines are due to hundreds of thousands of non-English-speaking voters requiring lines with interpreters for many languages...
Trump needs to make election integrity a priority now.
You can't even get Congress to make English the official language, there was a congressman tried every year for a while don't recall who, from New Mexico or Arizona I think.
Senator Teddy Kennedy, the Lion of the Senate, brought us the voting rights act that only applied to several Southern States, also cut off European immigration and did us up royal.
I doubt you will live long enough to see a secure vote In any state, but I pray that you do.
