Cue Arlo Guthrie and “Mamdani’s Restaurant.”
Meals are always free. Unfortunately we have no food.
The only record I can find of any state-operated grocery store being sustainable is in the Soviet Union. Everything I could reference in this country shut down within 5 years. The last example was in Kansas City, I think. And that was one outlet, not a complete network across the entire metro area.
The average profit margin for grocery stores is very low, typically ranging from 1% to 3% of total sales revenue, although it can fluctuate depending on factors like sales volume and the specific products sold. These small profit margins mean that grocery stores must rely on extremely high sales volume to be successful and compensate for lower individual item profits.
Do you think the government can do better than this?
Mandated only Halal? Bacon be haram.
I’ve always liked Curtis Sliwa, but he has zero chance to win the NYC mayoral race. I heard a report Thursday or Friday that quoted him saying that “he doesn’t own a credit card!”
Regardless if he wants one or not, having and managing credit cards, mortgages and car loans is something a responsible adult must do. Some things can only be accomplished with credit cards, like renting a hotel/motel room, rental car/truck and buying an airline ticket for example.
I am astonished hearing that. How does he buy his posse, The Guardian Angels, their red berets and red jackets? How can he adequately manage one of the biggest cities in America without knowledge of how credit works? He cannot.
I wish he would save himself the embarrassment of coming in 4th in a 3 man mayoral race and drop out.
