Guess I'm out of touch.
Worked my butt off nursing, loved it but very consuming. One has to love caring for people, be a scientist and continue education without ceasing.
Not for everyone.
I would think lottery winner would be the most searched occupation.
My middle child was in microbiology but decided to switch to sonography. Once they start working, they are going back for radiology. Average salary for sonography is $75K to $120K. Average salary for a radiologist is between $350K to $500K.
We all thought my youngest was going into tech, but after being my companion this last year due to my failing health, he is going for physical therapy assistant. Salary between $65K to $135K. Two year degree that will cost about $7K in total. Seems like a solid investment.
My daughter-in-law was a CNA and was going into nursing, until she was attacked by a patient. Thankfully, she was not seriously hurt, the creeper was arrested for attempted sexual assault, and his skanky hide was hauled out of the hospital in handcuffs.
She’s exploring other options.
In the SF Bay Area, the typical nurse pulls down >$200K a year. Not bad money if you like or can tolerate that world. And I’m glad that we have people who want to do the job because it’s a job that has to be done. But based on personal experience of myself and family, though, hospitals are places of my nightmares, so I wouldn’t want the gig no matter how much it paid.

“Influencer” isn’t on the list??!? I’m shocked!!!
In What’s New, Pussycat, Woody Allen in his first role was in Paris.
His buddy asked him if he had a job.
“Yes, I work at the strip palace helping all the girls with their costumes. 20 sous a week.”
“20 sous? That isn’t very much money.”
“It’s all I can afford to pay them.”
Just got out of hospital after a 10 day stay for a liver resection. (They got it all, Thank God) I was among angels the whole time. They cleaned me, they cared for me in the middle of the night, they kept my spirits up with their positive, helpful attitude. There is no modesty in a hospital, but they were modest. As a retired Medical Device Engineer, I embarassed to ask them to do some tasks I could not do myself. All the nurses I encountered in my stay were
gentle and caring. May God Bless Them All.
It’s popular until you find out what it entails.
And, in 10-12 years there won’t be the need.
Right now the “boomer” generation is a bulge going through the system. The need for nurses will remain high as that generation uses a much higher percentage of medical services. Ones they die off…the need will fall off.
Of course, if America remains obese, the need might remain high as younger people will need a lot of orthopedic and cardiac care.
Don’t worry globalists will flood us with 3rd worlders to fill medical staff. Citizens need not apply.
Nursing/EMT/Paramedic also has the quickest burn out rate. BTDT
If only most of them would work in hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities, with the very ill. Most want to wear high heels and have sit at the desk jobs on nurse pay.
