It’s total double standards. You’d be annoyed by a Latino person being cast as Abe Lincoln.
It’s right to be annoyed that in 2025, a non-Mediterranean or Middle Eastern LOOKING person isn’t cast as a major Biblical figure, the most major one of all.
Doesn’t help that Mel Gibson has an anti-Semitic rap sheet to boot.
Just what do you think Jews have to look like, especially Jesus himself? What do you think this current actor will look like like, do you think that the devout Christian and one of the greatest directors, Mel Gibson, is casting a Jesus that will look out of place as Jesus, is that what you thought as you watched Passion of the Christ?

You seem to have an ax to grind against Mel Gibson and the entire Christian thing.
Gibson has no anti-semitic rap sheet to overcome, anti-Christian Jews of Hollywood were tearing him apart without stop and started attacking him and the movie before it even started filming because they hate Jesus and Christianity, the night that Jewish cop stopped him Gibson went on a rant against the incredible Jewish attacks in Hollywood and the press he had been under for over 3 years, that night he had fallen off the wagon and been drinking straight Tequila, and he said things that fit his situation in his industry and about the attacks on his film, on Christianity, and on his career.
The eastern Mediterranean was the melting pot of the ancient world, and inhabitants came in every color from King David's "fair and ruddy" to as dark as the Ethiopian that met St. Philip on the road.
That was by God's design. He didn't want us to be worrying about what color His son might be. As many icons attest, Christ appears to His faithful where they are.
