I’ll never be the same.
Experience is a great teacher. :-)
When you die you go home. Some get a glimpse of it before returning. This has nothing to do with whether God is real or not.
I agree with you the evidence of a near-death experience being a real experience in terms of seeing the afterlife, is limited and unlikely.
But the study is about the effect on people who believe they have had a near-death experience. So that’s different.
I do not deny there are "near death" experiences. There are. to date, precious few "fully dead experiences" in our culture save the one central to Christian faith.
As to those who have something to say about NDEs, oddly they all also have something to sell, about their NDEs. And some, like Swart, seem to be using it as a part of their grieving process.
'I'm a neurologist who talks with my dead husband daily — here's how I do it' Express UK, 17 September 2025
And .... "Now she asks Bieber [ her deceased husband ] for signs and believes that he delivers. Even that morning, she says, her friend told her she'd matched with a man on a dating app also called Robin Bieber. 'So I looked him up and tapped on a random picture and the caption was ‘Eye [sic] love you’ and the date was Valentine's Day. I was like, this is a bit too good to be true!' ”
Source: The neuroscientist who talks with her dead husband The Times, 15 September 2025 "Tara Swart -- Neuroscientist, leadership coach, award-winning author and a medical doctor, Dr Tara Swart speaks on how global leaders can achieve mental resilience and peak brain performance"
Tara Swart Keynote Speaker Books, videos and speaker offerings.
Swart says, without disagreement from me, "The mind and body can operate independent of each other."
The incontestable issue for all cognitive scientists, connectionists as symbolic representationist, who purport so much is to explain how matter becomes conscious. Using many approaches, it still comes down to the brain science version of the missing link. Where is that moment when consciousness erupts?
Scripture and subsequent theology all comes to the notion of something "in" + "carnate." Incarnate. We don't vocabulary for the inverse, the ex-carnate. But Swart speaks to her dead husband now for many years. She speaks to that which is 'ex-carnate'. But she will also sell you a book and deliver a speech for a fee. Oddly, the "book" which is millennia older has already been written. I'd lean on that, though speaking to and through robins can be quite fine and necessary in the process of living with grief.
We're all on that one-way road, with perhaps an NDE for some and none for others. As one recalls, "for it is in dying, that we are born to eternal life."
In the interim, I'll think on older notions as we were warned of some who "will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive...."
I's weigh two simple statements. Trust Swart, or Neal, or.....
Or trust God. As a skeptic in reading articles and listening to videos, I'll go with "trust God."
Best wishes.
I've thought that in Heaven there must be no concept of gender. For one thing there's no procreation, and for another it would be difficult to reconcile the situation in which a surviving spouse gets re-married.
From the article, "Limitations": "The sample was recruited primarily through near-death experience organizations and online communities, meaning participants likely differ from experiencers who don't engage with such groups, which potentially limits generalizability. The exploratory nature means the findings are preliminary, and the researchers call for future preregistered studies with larger and more diversely recruited samples to validate and extend these results. Additionally, the subjective nature of near-death experiences and varied interpretations by both experiencers and researchers present inherent challenges for systematic study."
In academia as in those many "journals," the publish-or-perish is in operation, and "Study Finds" is in the business of promoting "studies."
Thinking back to what President Eisenhower said about government funding of studies....
The Apollo astronaut with whom I conversed said that life is very mundane after a trip to the moon. He asked, "How do you top that?".
Back from Hell? Negative Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) – Jimmy Akin’s Mysterious World
I seems that most Christians do not believe in the Spirit Realm, or at least don’t understand its sophistication.
Yeah, he never said a word.
“Losing the fear of death would absolutely and fundamentally change one’s perspective on everything.”
Yes, it does.
The brain is still working during those NDE’s.
“As to those who have something to say about NDEs, oddly they all also have something to sell, about their NDEs.”
This podcast is free. Nobody is selling anything.

It is the best summary of these experiences I have seen.
I am not selling anything either.
Who reads anecdotes and tries to analyze them? I did for years. I used to develop service strategies for telecom companies and banks. I would spend days reviewing interviews and then assigning a “value” to them; then re-checking them through a statistically accurate process.
I havent read this study. But, you asked the question. I would be happy to go into it more deeply if you are interested.
People who have such experiences usually do no talk about them for decades.
St Paul tells of such a man 14 years before, caught up to the third heaven and saw things not to be told.
I have known one person who claimed such an experience and she only told it to my wife forty years later, who told me.
Sadly there are too many fakes who claim the same thing then years later say they just made it up.
The same word “die” used in Hebrews 9:27 is also used by Paul in eight other scriptures to mean “die daily.”
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the Judgment,”
I had a hard time with this scripture so I researched it to the nth degree. I read and study the Bible daily and it is the most important book in my life.
First, allow me to say that I am Christian and Jesus is my Savior.
Secondly, I have died several times (Had several NDE’s), crossed over to Heaven, experienced the same Love and Bliss described in the article, and returned to my physical body.
Finally, Bruce Greyson who is the faculty in the research article, I have known for many years. He is retired now. He is a psychiatrist and was the Chair of the Department of Perceptual Studies at UVA. He has attended many of my lectures, and I attended his.
The other authors of the studies cited in the research article are also close friends of mine, although Alvarado passed away a few years ago.
My experience is very unique in that I never fully returned to my physical body. I have been straddling the fence of the two realities of Heaven and earth for over 35 years since my first NDE. As a result of this, consciousness and the contents of people’s souls are physical to my perception. This includes the stored memories in the soul of all life experiences. These stored memories are stored in reverse order, current memories being close to the physical body and conception memory being about 15 ft from the physical body in the outer perimeter of the current soul field.
If I take a half step beyond the conception memory, I am in the memory of the person’s death experience of their last life in a physical body. As I walk further back, all the memories of that life are stored in their soul in reverse order. The memories of each life the person lived are stored in sequence, like growth rings of a tree. The soul is very complex and dynamic.
I can prove what I say in a scientific setting, and have done so several times with demonstrations. When I physically touch a low frequency memory (sin) that is stored in a person’s soul, it often physically knocks them off their feet, even though I am many feet away from them and their eyes are closed.
I too changed drastically after my NDE. My entire life changed and it led to a divorce. I crossed over to Heaven, and met several angelic beings. I asked them for help and they went into prayer which immediately sent my soul to a higher level of Heaven where I met God. The Love and Light was even stronger at that level than in the lower Heaven. My Father’s Mansion has many rooms.
This strong Love and Light I experienced in Heaven when I met God changed my soul so drastically that it changed my perception of reality and gave me the unique abilities I described above.
Yes, I met Jesus too. Jesus is already here on earth, but just as He describes in John 14, not everyone is able to see Him. I see and feel Him as He is in me and I in Him.
The message I received many times over the past 35 years was, “It’s not time yet.” Thus it has not been time for me to share publicly until now, due to the times we are in.

I posted a link to a TikTok video above. In it a highly educated Dr told of some stories that she became interested in because after her husband died of lukemia he appeared several times in her bedroom.
Anyway one that interests me ehe most was about a guy in the hospital having repeated heart problems. He became friendly with a 20 year old nurse. One night a different nurse was taking care of him and he went into cardiac arrest. He went to a different place and saw the 20 yr old nurse who told him his life wasn’t over, he had to go back, and to tell her parents that she was sorry about the red MG.
Then he ended up back in his body and told the new nurse what had just happened and the new nurse ran out of the room crying and then another nurse came in who told the man that the 20 yr old nurse and just been given a red MG by her parents for her birthday and she took it out that night, crashed it and died. Obviously he had no way of knowing any of this by other means because he was stuck in ICU.
This is not the only story I’ve heard like this - where the temporary dead person sees something on the other side that they couldn’t have possibly known in this life.
