My daughter is reading at a 3rd grade level. Her school isn’t teaching her American History (or at least Columbus Day). Any recommendations for American history friendly books for that age? Especially if it has pictures and pro-trump
If you go on ABEbooks.com, you should be able to le to find some 1950s school books that will cover Columbus fine. He hasn’t changed since then, so it doesn’t matter if the books are old. Catholic schools books are likely to cover him more. You can use AI (perplexity.ai, grok.com) to ask for possible titles.Ginn should be an acceptable publisher.
Why is ‘your daughter” in public school? that situation is aflashing sign that your daughter means no more to you than as some sort of social ornament.
Historian Warren Carroll championed Isabella and Columbus’ cause for sainthood. His “Isabella of Spain” is for older students and adults, but his wife Anne Carroll wrote “Christ and the Americas”, which features heroic Columbus on the cover, and is aimed for students around your child’s age and above.
Check out Praeger University and Praeger U Kids.
Rush wrote some books called Rush Revere i beleive. Not sure of age range.
Columbus Books
The True Story of Christopher Columbus, Called the Great Admiral by Eldridge S. Brooks (1892)
Christopher Columbus by Mildred Stapley (1915)Books with chapters on Columbus
American Men of Action by Burton E. Stevenson (1913)
A Beginner's American History--D. H. Montgomery (1892)
This Country of Ours by H. E. Marshall (1917)
I loved the We Were There series when I was in grade school.
Those were good, too. We had quite a few of them but I don’t know if we had them all.
