I know that the crew on Jaws nicknamed the mechanical shark Bruce, and the writers on Finding Nemo picked that up. But I’ve never read any account of where “Bruce” came from originally. Was it a nod to someone on the crew, maybe one of the guys who built it?It was named after Spielberg's lawyer, whose first name was Bruce. Professional courtesy, I guess.
