Oh, brother! I worked with LOTS of Indian nationals in Silicon Valley.
1. We work twice as hard for half the recognition — Uh, NO. I didn’t see any particularly hard-working Indians. Most clocked in and out on the dot.
2. We swallow our accent — Uh, nope, never saw that.
3. We change our names - nope, nope, nope. Never saw that. Lots of Chinese people adopt American names because theirs do not transliterate well. Not once did I meet a single Indian guy named “John” or “William” or “Trevor.” It was always Vivek or Rishi or Rohan or Deepak. At least the native Indian names were easy to pronounce (a benefit of the English colonization of India centuries ago).
