Hanlon’s Razor. Most of the time it’s because they don’t know the laws on 4-ways and they’re trying to get YOU to go ahead so they can go. If both cars reach the stop sign at the same time... the driver on the right is supposed to go first. Clueless drivers will just sit there or wave the other driver on.

I have an intersection in my neighborhood that for about 30 years had the main road through the intersection configured to let that traffic go without stopping, and the stop signs made the people on the side streets have to stop.

Seems reasonable, right? That is how I would have done it, since it has the vast majority of the traffic.

One morning, I went to work, and...the configuration had changed. Now, the main road had the stop signs, and the small side roads did not have to stop.

It was infuriating. I counted all the stop signs and stop lights on my daily commute, and it was nearly 30 of them.

This was one more. But that wasn’t the worst part.

Now, I have to stop there. And if there is a person coming up to the intersection, they are free to go right through. But often, they don’t. Many of them maddeningly come to a full stop even though they don’t have to.

It makes me crazy. I have resolved to just sit there until they go, even if they wave me through, I will not go. I will actually pull out my phone to check it, look down, or do anything to ignore the person until they get frustrated and go.

For a long time, I thought someone who worked in our town got it changed, but have come to believe this is some Leftist BS from our extremely Leftist town government, since I have seen this change in stop sign configuration appear on other similar intersections.

It is obviously meant to slow traffic down. I can’t stand Leftists in any government at any level. They see this as an improvement.
