I’m not blaming the victim here. The shooter deserves a long prison term. But here’s the thing. It’s not the job of a civilian to teach anyone else a lesson.

I have old ladies in my family ( and i’m 68) that think it is their life’s mission to correct others behavior out in public. Not other family members, complete strangers.
Nobody cares if you think they should smile more. Just shut up.

Shame is a societal tool. The issue here is the culture has deteriorated to the point where the risk of using that tool has skyrocketed.
