These situations become national news because they are rare.
Exactly.
Its more common than you think. It starts when they jam their foot in the door. Then they tell you the warrant is in the car. Then they come back night after night.
“rare”
Don’t know you have a basis for that assertion.
It may be that it was not all that rare before required bodycams. (maybe an unwarranted assumption on my part, but of course depends on def of ‘rare’)
As such it may also be unwarranted to assume that LEOs pivted on a dime with the advent of home security and driver cam evidence and now such bad behavior is “rare”.
I really don’t think they are that rare. Obviously these cops thought they could barge into his home without a warrant and arrest him. The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that they cannot arrest you in your home without a warrant unless there are exigent circumstances. They could have witnessed you actually do the crime but they would still need a warrant. This involved multiple officers and not one of them said, wait we can’t do this.
Clearly either poor training or just a general disregard for rights.
Local PD screwing up is rare, but I can guarantee if people post here, they are either in domestic surveillance/intelligence, or they have the local neighborhood unit alerted to them, and literally opening all of the mics in their home connected to the internet, and monitoring them in their house.
Surveillance now is set up like the Stasi, everyone gets a file, and everyone is monitored for a set period every so often to make sure their file is absolutely accurate.
Surveillance is now even using their own kids in the schools to begin the files for the kids.
