I’m also waiting to see the much anticipated photos from the Mars spacecraft. Is it the government shutdown that’s holding them up, or are we going to be kept in the dark once again?
Beside the US, there are satellites from the EU and China also watching and taking snaps and measurements.
The images are being taken by other probes as well - but they will also be going out to professional astronomers, even if nothing is posted on NASA’s site. Those folks will be interviewed by various YTers and their papers commented on.
The link I provided seems to be keeping up with all the new developments as they happen, while Jordon Wright, the Angry Astronaut, does very good job at explaining in English the more technical aspects, as well as speculation on other non-natural explanations.
One of the more interesting points he made concerns 1MI meteor that exploded over the Pacific Ocean in 2014 which was also confirmed to be extra-solar, possibly a probe of some sort, since its remains included sphericals with Beryllium, Uranium and Lanthanum - all used in nuclear reactors.
