It is. It’s all Kabuki theater to make us think this H1B visa EO will do anything. It’s not gonna stop crap and is a total bait and switch.

All the evidence says it’s already working. I would prefer the fee was annual but it is a good start.

--- "It's all Kabuki theater to make us think this H1B visa EO will do anything. "

While the thread is about stuff including "on the condition of anonymity," here is some hard info:

"Number of H-1B visa beneficiaries approved in fiscal 2025, by company"

Amazon -- 14.667
Tata Consultancy Services -- 5,586
Microsoft -- 5,1989
Meta Platforms -- 5,123
Apple -- 4,202
Google -- 4,186
Cognizant Technology Solutions -- 3,681
Deloitte Consulting -- 3,180
JPMorgan Chase -- 2,440
Walmart -- 2,390

"The worker visas that President Trump says now require $100,000 application fees fill a tiny portion of the U.S. workforce but include high-value jobs concentrated among some of the biggest technology companies in some of the wealthiest coastal states."

Who Uses H-1B Visas the Most, in Charts Wall Street Journal, 22 September 2025

Personally, I'd be fine with zero work visas, and only legal immigration by legal pathways. Time to look at an underlying cause -- STEM has been devalued, while "basket weaving," "queer studies" and Harvard's latest "drag queen" faculty member are all the rage. Our trade schools should be the path forward.

Angry at the Chamber of Commerce? Then boycott Amazon, and the other "commerce" companies masquerading as "tech."
